Lusine - A Certain Distance

Enough.

Intense Sysadmining

My usual routine each night upon arrival home from work is to change in to something more sexy and comfortable and then get on with my evening.

Tonight, after getting down to my skivvies I hopped over to Google something. Four hours later, I am deeply involved in migrating my existing sites to a VPS hosted by Linode, I'm testing out lighttpd for the first time in earnest, and I'm comparing disk and network io statistics across a handful of hosting services.   And I have system ambition and ideas coming out of my bleeding fingers.

I guess I will put pants on and get to the grocer while I wonder why I can't get this much done in a normal afternoon at work.

There were fireworks.

For the sake of brevity

I will say only that I am satisfied with my new phone. Good night.

WRC 2011 Started Last Week

Particularly interesting because I had thought WRC was dead and over, it looks like the 2011 championship just started in Sweden with a very new set of car specs.  Since all the manufacturers basically pulled out due to costs, they've introduced cheaper cars and some rules to keep the prices down and allow more privateer entries.

  • 1.6l turbo  (still at 300bhp)
  • standardized gearbox, made by multiple manfs.
  • no electronic assists
    • mechanical sequential lever shift replaces paddle shift
  • they did something to the diffs that I can't recall
There's a dude posting much of the content from UK ESPN on youtube, and doing a good job of making playlists and such so it's easy to watch: http://www.youtube.com/user/Antystenes1#p/p. It's not legitimately and legally available in the states, so getchyotorrents out.

I watched day1 of Sweden, and there was some corniness that was disappointing.  Looks like a lot less money being spent on filming the event, but that might just be a Sweden thing because the track was a white wasteland.  There's also this cock amercian racer with his backwards flat-brim hats and his Monster Energy Drink sponsorship.

I don't have really high expectations, but I'll certainly continue to give it some watching.

Sourceart

This seems totally possible, but silly and useless: Automatic jpg2ascii generators have existed for centuries, but perhaps we modify one so that it uses an existing body of text to form the ascii in the asciiart, instead of the most effective miscellaneous character.
We use a format of text where neither whitespace nor readability are important, and where arbitrary characters can be added in any whitespace (provided they are surrounded on both sides by a special set of characters that identify them as commentary.

A formatter for HTML source code that turns it in to ascii art.
Then take a screenshot of your webpage, feed it tothe generator, and now your source looks like your design. Brilliant.
